AMT has extended the Metal Injection Molding technology to include aluminum, copper and tungsten-copper, which was patented and trademarked as aluMIM™, cuMIM™and wcuMIM™. With these processes, there is greater flexibility in geometry design and better thermal conductivity.
Copper Injection Molding
Pure copper is normally used for thermal management applications because of its high thermal conductivity. As a result, copper injected heat sinks can either be used as an inlay for the base plate or even for the entire cooler.
Copper injection molding may well be the cost-effective solution to manufacturers.
